Join Pack 9
Families are welcome any time of year — you don't have to wait for the fall.
Who can join
Cub Scouting is for children in kindergarten through 5th grade, and it's open to boys and girls. If your child is older, we can point you to a Scouts BSA troop.
We run a round-up each fall, and sometimes in the spring, at Lowell Elementary, Tucker Elementary, Jannie Darr Elementary, and Fairview Elementary. Scouts can come from anywhere, though — if your child wants to join in the fun, they're welcome regardless of which school they attend.
How to join
Visit a meeting
Every Tuesday while school is in session, 6:30 – 7:30 pm, at the Razorback Moose Lodge, 215 W Apple Blossom Ave in Lowell. Just show up — there's nothing to sign and nothing to bring. Get directions.
Tell us you're coming
Not required, but it helps us watch for you. Email us at join@lowellpack9.org and we'll reply with what's happening next.
Fill out the application
Registration goes through Scouting America, not through us. Apply online at BeAScout, which opens our pack's own listing, or ask us for a paper application at a meeting.
Pay the fees
Scouting America's membership fee is $125 per year. Paid to Scouting America, not the pack. It covers membership and Scout activity insurance, and renews 12 months from the month you join. There are no pack dues on top of it. See the full cost breakdown.
Get a uniform and handbook
A uniform shirt with patches, a neckerchief and slide (together these are the “Class A”), and the Scout's handbook. Order from scoutshop.org or visit the Shewmaker Center for Scouting in Springdale. See the full cost breakdown.
Once you've joined
Advancement and awards are tracked in Scoutbook — you'll get a login using the email on your child's application, and you can follow their progress toward each rank from there.
Day to day, the pack runs on the Spond app — that's where you'll find upcoming events, chat with other families, and see photos from what we've been up to. It's invite-only, so just ask a pack leader to add you.
